What we store, and what we don’t
Short version: there is no email address on your account, we never download or host a video, and you can delete everything from your account page.
There is no email address here
Your account is a passkey held by your own device. We store the public half of that key and nothing that could be used to sign in as you. We never ask for an email address, a phone number or a real name, and there is no field to put one in.
What we do store
- A handle, generated for you, shown only to moderators.
- Your film’s details as you entered them, and its YouTube video ID.
- Which parts of a film you played, so a review can be checked against it.
- The reviews you write, and the scores and taps that go with them.
- A keyed hash of your network address and browser, used only to stop two linked accounts reviewing each other and to spot clusters. We do not store the address itself, and it is never treated as proof of who you are.
YouTube API Services
This site uses YouTube API Services. We call them to check that a registered video is public or unlisted, embeddable, not age-restricted and long enough, to read its runtime, and to look for your one-time ownership code in the video description. We cache that metadata and refresh it; we never download, store or re-host a video file.
By using this site you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. When you watch a film here, the embedded player is served by YouTube and Google may set cookies as a result. You can revoke this site’s access to your data through Google’s security settings.
Anonymity between reviewers and creators
Creators never learn who reviewed their film — not on the site, not in an export, not in anything they share. We keep the link internally so that reviews can be scored and abuse can be handled, and moderators can see it. It is never revealed to a creator, and there is no setting that changes that.
Getting your data, and deleting it
Your account page exports everything we hold about you as a file, and deletes your account and its data outright. Deletion is immediate and we cannot undo it — there is no email address to recover an account through, which is the point of the design.
Everything is deleted 90 days after reviewing closes unless you ask us to keep it for a future festival. That choice lives on your account page and is off unless you turn it on.
Independence
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the contest platform or its organisers. It publishes no scores, no rankings and no leaderboards, and it has no influence on any festival outcome.
